CRIMEAN CANNONS - WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

The Knoll
High Street
Cricklade
Wiltshire
Great Britain
SN6 6DD

Cricklade war memorial is located outside Brook House in Cricklade High Street. The Latin cross is constructed of granite with a bronze wreath on its front face and two bronze plaques carrying names. A small chain linked enclosure and gate separates the memorial from the street. The memorial was erected following World War 1. It commemorates 32 who died in that conflict and a further 8 names were added after the Second World War. Early images of the memorial show it flanked by a pair of Crimean War cannons. These were removed during World War II. In 2016 it was listed under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 as amended for its special architectural or historic interest.
